MITEB GmbH is a founding shareholder of CarbonPeak Advanced Materials Technology (Shanxi) Co., Ltd. based in Taiyuan (Shanxi Province, China). This company specialises in the production of lightweight pressure vessels for hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles.

In doing so, we are contributing to the transition of Shanxi’s coal-based economy towards a sustainable, carbon-neutral model. The region is already playing a leading global role in the use of hydrogen and fuel cells in the transport sector.

At present, grey hydrogen – a by-product of the coking process – is still the primary form used. At the same time, work is underway to expand the infrastructure for producing green hydrogen in order to maintain the supply chain even after the planned phase-out of coal in 2040.
