KVB Research

Since 1994, the KVB Institute for Design and Composite Structures gGmbH (KVB) has been conducting application-oriented research and development in the field of lightweight construction. The focus is on fibre-reinforced composites and their associated technologies.
Lightweight materials are viewed as an integral part of the structural environment and, where required, are integrated into complete mechatronic systems. In doing so, aspects of the entire product life cycle are considered and optimised.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Design and computational analysis of fibre-reinforced composite assemblies
  • Material testing, prototyping and validation
  • Pressure vessels for weight-critical applications
  • Integration of sensor technology into fibre-reinforced composite structures
  • Reintroduction of fibre-reinforced composite recyclates into the material cycle
  • Development of specialised technologies for complex component
