MITEB GmbH’s aviation projects are brought together under the SANTOS® brand. We are committed to the pioneering spirit and courage of our namesake, Alberto Santos Dumont (1873–1932). We are convinced that the challenges of the 21st century – in particular the urgent need for sustainability – can only be overcome through bold, groundbreaking approaches.

Rethinking flight

The aviation industry is currently far from achieving its sector-specific climate protection targets. Existing aircraft are optimised for a set of objectives that takes insufficient account of today’s requirements for zero emissions.  Replacing fossil fuels in aircraft typically fails due to excessive energy consumption. Therefore, the top priority must be to develop energy-saving concepts for lift and propulsion.

Our current projects are geared towards this:

• SILENT 2 electro – Electric motor glider: flying electrically with optimal aerodynamics
• SANTOS rigid airship: long-duration unmanned electric hovering

With our projects, we aim not only to lay the foundations for scaling up the technologies, but also to directly create new solution spaces for flight tasks.
